Our August Game Night was our biggest yet — 40 participants gathered for an evening of board games, laughter, and genuine connection. Sensory-friendly lighting and quiet zones made sure everyone could participate comfortably.
The Ramirez family has been a Community Hero donor since our founding year. Their monthly support directly funds the sensory accommodations that make every SOS event accessible to all. We sat down with them to hear why inclusion matters so much to their family.
Marcus attended his first SOS event last spring, nervous and unsure what to expect. Eight months later, he volunteers at every workshop and says SOS gave him the confidence to pursue his passion for digital art. In his own words: "I finally found my people."
We're thrilled to announce a six-part Creative Arts Workshop series beginning in October. Led by local artist and SOS volunteer Priya Nair, the series will cover painting, collage, and digital illustration — all in a sensory-friendly, low-pressure environment.
Twelve participants explored the trails at Sourland Mountain Preserve on a perfect July morning. The group moved at their own pace, with no pressure and plenty of rest spots. Several members said it was their first time hiking — and they're already asking about the next one.
Branchburg Community Bank stepped up as a Champion-level sponsor this summer, enabling us to expand our event schedule and add a second monthly social gathering. Their commitment to local inclusion is making a real difference for our members.
Aisha joined SOS as a participant two years ago, drawn in by the promise of a judgment-free social space. Today she co-facilitates our monthly Cooking Workshop and mentors new members. Her journey is a testament to what community can do.
We're proud to share that Spectrum of Strength has received official 501(c)(3) nonprofit status from the IRS. This means your donations are now fully tax-deductible, and we can apply for grants that will help us serve even more neurodivergent adults across New Jersey.
